Three Officers Shot During Standoff With Barricaded Man In DC: Metropolitan Police (Updated)

Three officers from the Metropolitan Police Department were shot during a standoff with a barricaded man on Wednesday morning, the agency confirmed.

Police say that the officers were called at around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 14 to the 500 block of Hanna Place SE to reportedly serve an arrest warrant, leading to the barricade.

During the subsequent standoff, multiple shots were fired, and three officers were struck and suffered what were described as non-life-threatening injuries. All were taken to area hospitals, according to the DC Police Union.

There are road closures along Benning RD SE between G St and Southern Ave SE, G Street between Benning and 51st St SE 46th St towards Benning Rd SE.

MPD Chief Pamela Smith said a fourth officer suffered minor injuries, but not a gunshot wound.

In an alert issued at 11:15 a.m. on Wednesday, police say that the man remains barricaded, and is still firing his weapon.
